Yesterday we decided this should be the day we go to the island of Capri. We had contemplated going over there to say for a few nights but the weather is not perfect and being on land is less confining than being on an island. The walk to the ferry is not far from our hotel so we headed on down where we would be greeted by 100's of people also taking the ferry including a bunch of high school kids on a tour. We purchased our tickets for 14 euro a piece and away we went. We had done alittle reading and knew we wanted to end up at Capri and then on to Ancapri. After standing in another line we purchased our tickets for the funicular at 1.8 euro a piece. We then stood in another line to ride to the top so we could start exploring the towns.
Once on top exhausted from standing in lines we strolled around capri and found the bus to take us to Anacapri the cost of the bus 1.8 euro. The ride was the worst ever, there is a cliff with a 2 foot wall as a guard rail and straight down and pretty much 1 way traffic but they think they can pass. Anacapri is a very nice town much quieter, we walked around the square and some historical buildings and then decided to head to the azzurre grotto. There was a sign on the street and we had actually read about it in the tour book. The bus would take us right there through the cliff hanging roads.
The day ended taking the fast ferry back to our dock for 14.50 euro a piece. The day was not cheap but it sure was fun. We dined in town early so we didn't have to walk down to the city again.
